Understanding the Facts
Dear Citizens of Yucaipa,
In November, you elected two new candidates to the City Council. Those individuals took office in December. In January, for reasons that can’t legally be discussed, the City Manager decided to retire.
With the previous City Manager’s retirement, the City Council decided to change directions. The Council wanted to get back to the basics of local government: enhancing public safety and fixing our streets.
To do this, the Council turned to Chris Mann, a Yucaipa resident and, at the time, City Manager of the City of Canyon Lake. Because of his love for Yucaipa and its unique way of life, his deep roots in the community, his experience in the private sector, and his record of success as a City Manager, the Council felt Chris was the ideal choice.
These changes were sudden and happened at a time when the City was considering a proposal for a controversial project in the North Bench, causing fear and confusion among some residents.
Rumors and speculation followed. As you may know, rumors and speculation often spread faster than facts. Many of these rumors and much of the speculation has been wrong and misleading.
Providing factual information to the public goes to the heart of government administration. To help you make an informed opinion, the City of Yucaipa developed a document addressing the most common fictitious rumors about the recent changes at City Hall.
Yucaipa residents are strong and independent people. You can review the document and see for yourself what is myth and what is fact.
Know that the City Council hears you. The Council adopted new goals for 2023, with bolstering public safety, addressing homelessness, and fixing our streets at the top of that list.
You can help the City accomplish its goals. The best way to help is by staying informed and letting us know when you see an issue. You’re always free to call or email, but the most convenient way to help is through the Yucaipa App. You can download the Yucaipa App from your phone’s app store.
