Code Enforcement
In accordance with Ordinance No. 434, owners of Vacant Buildings are required to register with the Code Enforcement Division. To register, follow this link to the Yucaipa Permit Exchange portal and search, “Vacant Building Registration.”
A property should be registered within ten (10) days of a building becoming vacant or being deemed vacant. This also applies to all existing vacant buildings.

How do I report a possible code violation?
To report a non-emergency issue or code violation click here or download the “City of Yucaipa” app through your mobile app store which allows you to report issues directly to the City. You may also call the Code Enforcement office at (909) 797-2489 ext. 245
What is the code violation process once a complaint has been submitted?
Once a possible violation has been reported, a code enforcement officer will investigate to confirm whether a code violation exists. Upon validation, a code enforcement case will be opened, and the officer will notify the owner of any action required to correct the violation(s). Re-inspections will be conducted regularly to track the progress of the violation. Failure to correct violations may result in administrative citations or other administrative remedies. The code enforcement case will remain open until the violation(s) has been resolved.
Can I report my neighbor’s tree growing into my property?
If a neighboring tree is encroaching onto your property line, you may trim the overgrown branches up to the property line, as long as the tree itself is not being damaged.

How do I check the status of a code enforcement case?
You may search for public information such as code enforcement cases, plans, or permits via the Yucaipa Permit Exchange. For best results, please have the code case number readily available.
How do I pay my citation(s)?
To pay an administrative citation online using a debit or credit card, visit: www.CitationProcessingCenter.com, search for: Administrative Citations, search by: Citation and Date, enter the citation number, and lastly, enter the date the Administrative Citation was issued.
You may also mail your payment in the form of a check mailed to: City of Yucaipa c/o Citation Processing Center, PO Box 7275, Newport Beach, CA 92658-7275. To ensure proper credit, please include the citation number on your remittance.
How do I appeal an administrative citation?
To appeal an administrative citation, you must submit an Administrative Citation Hearing Request within ten (10) calendar days from the issuance date of the Administrative Citation.
How do I obtain a dog license?
Dog licenses are now issued via DocuPet, the official pet licensing partner of San Bernardino County.
Can I keep a rooster on my property?
Roosters are prohibited in the City of Yucaipa. A combination of chickens or similar fowl (hens only) may be allowed if zoning requirements are met. (YDC 4.5.84.0560)

Can I store my vehicle or RV / Trailer on the street?
Use of streets for the storage of vehicles is prohibited. No person who owns or has possession, custody or control of any vehicle(s) shall park such vehicle(s) upon any street or alley for more than a consecutive period of seventy-two (72) hours.
How do I report a vehicle that has been abandoned in the street?
To report an abandoned vehicle, please call the Yucaipa Police Department, non-emergency dispatch number at (909) 790-3100.
Am I allowed to store an inoperable vehicle on my property if it is registered as non-op?
Property shall be free of inoperable or abandoned vehicles and parts of vehicles unless they are safely stored in a structure consisting of four walls and roof and not visible from the public right-of-way. (YMC 8.16.030 (3))
How can I dispose of bulky items that will not fit into my trash container?

Please remember that no person shall place bulky waste adjacent to a street or public right-of-way for collection or removal purposes without prior approval and arrangements with the collector. (YMC 8.28.240)
When do i need to bring my trash containers in after collection day?
Containers shall be removed from the street or right-of-way location within twelve (12) hours after collection. (YMC 8.28.180(E))
How do I apply for a garage / yard sale permit?
Residents may apply for a yard sale permit in person at City Hall during cashier business hours: Monday – Thursday 7:30AM – 5:15PM.
How do I apply for a Temporary Banner / Flag / Sign Permit?
To apply for the Temporary Banner/Flag/Permit, please visit the Yucaipa Permit Exchange and create a user account. Search “Temporary (Business) Sign Permit” to find the correct application.
What requires a building permit and how do I apply?
Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the building official and obtain the required permit. (CBC Section 105.1)
